Coolsculpting: What To Expect

You've tried diet, exercise, and everything recommended by your doctor and nutritionist to get rid of those stubborn fat deposits on your stomach, thighs, and arms. Coolsculpting, or cryolipolysis, is a procedure that freezes and destroys fat cells without hurting your skin and other surrounding tissue. If you're anxiously awaiting your initial appointment, chances are you want an idea of what will happen.

Here are a few things you can expect during and after your initial Coolsculpting appointment.

Preparing for the Treatment

Prior to your appointment, your technician will determine if you are a candidate, where you want to target fat loss, and what results you can expect. Wear comfortable clothing you can easily remove because you might be provided with a gown. Make sure your smartphone is charged or grab a book or magazines because depending on how many areas you are targeting, you may be there for several minutes or an hour.

During the Coolsculpting Treatment

Your technician will sit you down in a comfortable chair and mark where the treatments will occur. Next, a gel pad will be placed on these areas. The pad will help protect your skin from damage during the procedure. The technician will use a wand that targets, freezes, and destroys fat cells. You might feel a slight pulling, tingling, or cold sensation during the treatment.

If you experience any discomfort, tell your technician. Typically, any unpleasant sensations don't last long, and you will be comfortable throughout the procedure. Multiple treatments may occur at once if you are targeting more than one area of fat deposits.

While you are receiving the treatment, go ahead and relax, read a book, or check your social media accounts.

After Your Coolsculpting Treatment

Once your appointment is over, you may feel a little soreness or see some redness around the treated areas. This is normal, and any discomfort will end quickly. Your technician will typically allow you to head back to work or resume your normal activities right after the procedure.

The fat cells that are destroyed during the procedure will naturally reabsorb into your body and you will typically begin to notice results several days or weeks after the initial procedure. As the weeks and months pass, the results will become even more noticeable and you will begin to see smoother, less-dimpled skin.

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive, effective way to eliminate unwanted fat deposits from your thighs, backside, arms, or just about anywhere else on our body.
