4 Popular Lash Extension Styles To Consider

Eyelash extensions are becoming quite popular. And this is no wonder, considering how extensions simplify your routine, give you freedom from mascara, and create a lovely, open-eyed appearance. When they sit down to have extensions applied, most people expect their stylist to ask how thick they want their lashes. But what they don't always expect is to be asked about their preferred lash style. Indeed, there are several popular lash extension styles that you'll want to consider prior to your appointment.

Natural Lashes

Natural lash extensions are basically the same length all of the way across the eye. Those towards the outside corner may be a little longer, as this tends to be how natural lashes appear. Natural lashes have a little curl, but not too much. As long as someone is a few feet from you, they would not necessarily know you have extensions; they'd just assume you have really voluminous natural lashes. As such, this lash style is a common choice among ladies who want to accentuate their eyes, but gently.

Baby Doll Lashes

Baby doll lashes look like the eyelashes you'd see on a classic doll. They are quite curled, but they are not overly full or thick. They're long, but they are all the same length, and they get thicker towards the outside of the eye. Lashes in this style help to accentuate the outside of the eye, so they are a good choice for anyone who feels that their eyes are too close together. Baby doll lashes are subtle and soft, but a bit more obvious than natural extensions.

Cat Eye Lashes

For a somewhat more dramatic and obvious appearance, consider cat eye lashes. They are curled in more of a "J" shape than a "C" shape — they come out from the eye, and then the very ends curl up. Cat eye lashes are pretty long, and they get longer and thicker towards the outside of the eye. Like baby doll lashes, they tend to make the eyes look further apart. They also call attention to the eyes in general.

Open Eye

If you want dramatic lashes, but you don't want your eyes to look further apart, then you may want what's known as open-eye extensions. These are thick, long extensions, but they are about the same thickness and width all of the way across the eye. As such, they make the eyes look larger and more open.

Now that you have a better idea of what eyelash extension styles are available, you'll be prepared to have a discussion with your stylist about the right style for you. Enjoy your lashes!
